Educated mainly in schools in Wales, Clevedon and Gloucester, I moved away to Sheffield to read History of Art at 18. I followed this with a post-graduate course in management and began a successful leadership career in the private and commercial sector. During this time I moved up and down the country (around 10 times I think), finally ending up in the South West where I have stayed and raised my two children. Having had a mini career break to have my family, I returned to education to gain a Masters in Strategic Management from Bristol University, and took up a post in a school in North Somerset. From this moment on I was absolutely hooked by education and working with young people to improve outcomes and life chances.
I joined Priory in 2007 as a Head of Year and quickly joined the leadership team as Head of Lower School. I have a personal ethos of “I’ll give it a go” and as a result over the years I have taught a variety of subjects including French, science, English, child development, engineering and business studies. I embraced the role of Head of Upper School and was appointed Head of School in June 2015. I am so proud to be part of Priory and have really enjoyed my journey with Priory to helping the school be awarded Ofsted outstanding. I was also really delighted to lead the Priory Pre-School to outstanding in 2017. For me Priory embodies students first, cherishing staff and it is a great place to be – vibrant and exciting. No two days are the same!
I am passionate about football (an avid Aston Villa fan), music and cars and love to travel. As a family we made a conscious decision to try and see as much of the world together as we possibly can which has given us rich memories and experiences. We love to scuba dive and especially enjoy beach holidays anywhere, from South Wales to Zanzibar! My children have now both graduated from university and are travelling and starting their own careers but still tell me they are happy to come on holiday as a family.
