English teacher Sarah O’ Gorman is flying out to Malawi in two weeks’ time to set up the first ever library in the town of Mzimba – and now you can help.

Miss O’ Gorman founded Jill Dando News at Priory Community School Academy in Weston-super-Mare five years ago and in 2019 set up a similar scheme in Malawi.

Now she is to fly out to set up a library at Africa Sunrise Nursery she helped set up with her charity LIFO.

Pupils from Castle Batch Primary School Academy have already donated books – now she is giving the chance for other students and pupils to donate books.

The address is below…

Miss O’ Gorman said: “You can help bring books and learning to Mzimba, Malawi. Simply package up a used book and post it off there. It’s as simple as that and you will become part of Mzimba’s first library!”

The Malawi project was funded by Dr Ron McKechnie, who did in 2013 and his charity, One Parish Link.

Castle Batch and PCSA are all part of The Priory Learning Trust  (TPLT).

Sarah added: “This is a wonderful link between our schools, Trust and the new community pre-school in Malawi.

“I’m so excited to go over in October and to help officially launch the project.”

Limbikira Foundation will be running the nursery and has employed two local teachers. The preschool can host up to 60 students and will help them prepare for Primary school.

The nursery is a key part of communal life and will help many children find their friends and achieve a education. Boys and girls alike.

A new nursery has also been set up on the Castle Batch site called Little Learners. It will offer flexible sessions between 7.30am and 6.00pm for 50 weeks of the year.

CBPSA has just been awarded a clean sweep of Good ratings by Ofsted.t.
