PCSA is one of over 3,500 schools to work with Modeshift STARS to promote healthy, safe and sustainable travel.

In 2023, PCSA proudly received a Bronze award for our collaboration with Modeshift STARS. This partnership aimed to highlight sustainability, empowering both students and staff with invaluable knowledge and skills for a greener future. Through engaging workshops, interactive initiatives, and thought-provoking discussions, we fostered a deep understanding of sustainability principles, leaving a lasting impact on the entire school community. This remarkable achievement symbolises our commitment to promoting environmental consciousness and shaping responsible citizens of tomorrow.

Proud PCSA students accepting their Modeshift Bronze award certificate for 2022-2023!

PCSA had joined the Sustrans Big Walk and Wheel challenge 20th - 31st March 2023 and thanks to the dedication of our students had managed to finish at #1 in the region and #3 across the whole of the UK.

PCSA’s Eco (PECO) team have been hard at work this academic year to help find new and innovative ways to change behaviours and minds towards creating a better and more sustainable future.

The PECO committee successfully organised a campaign to introduce biodegradable forks into the cafeteria. This impacted a Trust-wide procurement project for new catering services, the winning bid including sustainability targets and future plans.

Another successful Eco project was to support the planting of 300 new trees as a part of our initiative to make school grounds greener and more pleasant. We look forward to seeing these grow in the future! Coinciding with this PECO also introduced two Schefflera Janine plants to every classroom to improve the classroom environment as well as students' awareness of nature and as part of PCSA character education. PECO are also proud to have been awarded the Priory Citizen of the Year award for their activities.

Through Modeshift, PCSA formed a group of Active Travel Ambassadors who worked on encouraging their peers to travel actively to school and promote healthy and sustainable travel for all. Their project this year was to encourage other students to make small changes in their plans to make a big impact.

Our Active Travel Ambassadors chose to present their thoughts to other students in a music video which was shared across the school and given to a representative of North Somerset Council to show in other schools.
