Pupil Premium

The Pupil Premium is a Government initiative that was introduced in April 2011 to benefit students from disadvantaged backgrounds. Each school is allocated funds to support the learning of students who have been entitled to free school meals within the last six years (known as Ever 6 FSM) and children in care (known as CLA) that attend the school in Years 7 - 11. There is also additional Pupil Premium funding (known as the Service Premium) for any student who has or has had within the last four years a parent in the armed forces (known as Ever 4 Service).

Priory Community School targets the additional funding directly at eligible students.

At Priory Community School, we have identified a number of barriers to learning for disadvantaged students that are addressed through our Strategy Statement.

The key areas are:

  1. Attendance to school. Historically, disadvantaged students are not in-line with others nationally

  2. Learning habits for a large number of disadvantaged students across the whole school are less ingrained

  3. Underperformance of disadvantaged students across a number of subject areas in the curriculum

  4. Catering and supporting the social and emotional wellbeing of our students

  5. Attendance to extra-curricular activities and opportunities for disadvantaged students to gain enrichment experiences

What was the impact of the Pupil Premium 2019/20?
