Colin Welch
I have lived in Worle for 13 years after moving from Cornwall with my work. I am married with 3 children, 2 of which currently attend St Georges Church School where I have been a Bath & Wells Multi Academy Trust appointed governor for over 3 years. Within this time I have led on finance, sat on recruitment boards and chaired a disciplinary hearing for the Trust.
I have become a councillor for Priory to continue my interest in giving something back to the community. I hope my experience as a primary school governor will be useful to Priory in supporting and challenging the school so that it can deliver the best it can for pupils and staff.
I bring financial acumen as I have worked for HMRC for over 30 years as a Senior Tax Inspector. I currently manage a technical team in challenging abusive tax avoidance, previously dealing with tax implications undertaken by multi national companies, working with complex calculations and applying the law to established facts. I have also represented HMRC at tribunals and sit on interview panels.
In my spare time I enjoy riding my motorbike, going to the gym and learning the guitar.
