Dozens of Year 8 students are top of the world after their latest published book reached Number 4 in the Amazon book charts on World Book Day.

Tales from the End of the World volume 2 was written by 26 students aged 12 and 13 at Priory Community School Academy in Weston-super-Mare, Somerset. One of the authors Tamsen is pictured above with another award she received for her writing.

The anthology of dystopian fiction was written to display the talent of the young writers with short stories to create the future, and one full of hope.

James Wilmot, Director of Careers at The Priory Learning Trust said: “These writers have the potential to be household names.

“They have stepped up with sensational ideas and writing, and have created worlds of cataclysms and disasters. Of zombies and volcanoes. Of dictators and technology gone awry. I love reading their work.

“Some of these stories have happy endings. With some, our heroes just about scrape through with more disasters waiting unseen just around the corner. Some stories don’t end at all well for the protagonists. But not one story ends with ‘and then he woke up’.

“These are not commercial, people pleasing stories. These are honest stories written by the next generation of authors, film makers and games designers. I can’t wait to tell whoever will listen that I had the honour of working for them during their schooldays.”
