By Jill Dando News
Teachers and students brought smiles to mark World Book Day.
At Priory Community School Academy in Weston-super-Mare, Somerset there was a real buzz with the English department all dressing as characters from Willy Russell’s play ‘Blood Brothers’.
Meanwhile, the Maths team opted for an Alice in Wonderland theme.
Students in all year groups enjoyed participating in 100-word story competitions and completing a challenge to track down and learn about books from all those in character fancy dress!
On World Book Day, every child in full-time education in the UK is given a voucher to be spent on books.
Hundreds of students rushed to the Library at PCSA to receive their new book from a choice of 4 different publications.
Reading for All programmes in The Priory Learning Trust have further helped boost literacy in recent years.
World Book Day is celebrated nationally every year on the first Thursday of March.
