PECO Community Litter Pick – 15 July 2023

You are invited by the Priory Eco Committee (PECO) to join us at Priory Community School to attend a community litter pick on 15th July 2023 at the PCSA campus. It will start at 10 a.m. and end at 12 p.m. This invitation is open to all in our community. Our school’s Eco Committee is dedicated to improving and protecting the local environment and we welcome you to come along to support our aims and do your part.

We will focus mainly on areas commonly used by Priory students. The route will be: Priory → McDonald’s → Sainsburys → Walford Avenue Play Area → Riverbank Medical Centre → Priory via Wansbrough Road.

You will be provided with litter pickers and are advised to wear gloves. We can provide 10 pairs of gloves to anyone who doesn’t have their own, and 8 large hessian bags, so multiple people can share one bag. Items such as broken glass should of course only be collected using litter pickers to avoid any potential injuries. We encourage you to wear bright clothing or high visibility jackets for road safety. All collected waste will be gathered in bin bags and safely disposed of at the end of the litter pick event.

Some benefits of joining us are:

  • Taking pride and responsibility for the communal areas outside of school and encouraging others to step up.

  • Helping to protect wildlife, habitats and creatures that are vulnerable and could be harmed by litter e.g. hedgehogs and birds.

  • Supporting PECO to earn the Green Flag Award with merit.

  • Improving the school environment and surrounding area for the benefit of everyone (students, teachers and local community).

  • Making our local area safer for young children to play in, which will create a nicer, cleaner environment for all to enjoy.

Please fill out the following form to let us know whether you are interested in being a part of this opportunity to demonstrate how much you care for our community:
