A whopping 420 trees are to be planted in Remembrance of those of who have died alongside quest to answer Sir David Attenborough’s call and help save the planet.
Priory Community School Academy in Weston-super-Mare, Somerset will plant 420 trees tomorrow – remembering the past and also looking to the future.
The event will be part of its Remembrance Day commemorations and also its quest to help save the planet – answering the calls by Sir David Attenborough, Prince William, Professor Brian Cox and others.
Students, staff dignitaries and the community will mark the event with a spectacular Wildlife Package where individuals attending will get to plant a tree on the school playing fields.
People who plant a tree will receive a certificate to show how they helped the environment and a piece of red ribbon to tie around the tree in remembrance of someone who has died.
The Mayor of Weston super Mare James Clayton will officially cut the ribbon at 10am.
A single oak will also be planted in the meadowland area to signify how PCSA has grown and will carry on growing across future years.
Leading Eco School
The tree planting will also help the students with their Eco sustainability/Green Flag Award that PCSA are working towards.
Principal Angelos Markoutsas said: “We are so honoured to be able to plant such a huge amount of trees in remembrance of people that we know who have died, including those in the wars.
“It is also a big stamp in the determination of the students to become a leading eco-school.“
Last week the academy unveiled five of what could be Britain’s best school eco bins.
There will also be a Remembrance service involving some of the local scout and cadet groups, along with hot food and drinks to keep attendees warm.
